Dumped and Fired?

We don't know for sure why they are leaving, but if you haven't seen these, you should. Decide for yourself.... (thanks to Charley for compiling these references)

"Insiders say that despite the popularity of the actors, they're being dumped to make room for Jeff Goldblum to be lead detective."
Yahoo Buzz Sept 25, 2009

"It's official. "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" is giving key stars from the hitcop show their walking papers next season"
CTV News Sept 25, 2009

"Question: Vincent D'Onofrio can't leave Law & Order: CI! Did he quit or was he fired? —Jacob Ausiello: Quit?! That's hilarious! Thanks for the laugh. I needed that."
Ausiello Files Sept 30, 2009

"...four actors are being pulled from the cast of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," including longtime star Vincent D'Onofrio."
Inside Blip, Sept 25, 2009

  1. Obviously this decision to cut three actor salaries from one NBCU TV series is what's going to save GE.

  2. Love Goldblum but won't watch the show. You made you money on these peoples backs and now you stab them. et tu brute?

  3. The show will not be the same....I will not watch it. Goren and Eames is what made the show the most intelligent show on TV, a rare commodity these days!

  9. Goren and Eames are the WHOLE SHOW. Too bad I won't be watching after the 2 episodes. I have followed Vincent D'Onofrio's career since the beginning. I was glad when he signed on for LO:CI. He is an awesome actor and sometimes underappreciated. This is my SERIES FINALE FOR LO:CI. I can't stand JG, he's an average actor if that. Won't be watching anymore.

  10. Loved D'Onofrio in the film Full Metal Jacket. It was obvious how much talent he possessed. My husband and I were overjoyed to see him show up again on LO:CI. Read in his bio he's done a lot of stage work as well....a true rennaisance man.
Thank God we had him for as long as we did on TV which is such a vast waste land (reality TV?)
Kathryn Erbe deserves many, many kudos as well...a tough broad in a mega-feminine, sexy, intelligent package. Such an intelligent actor.
Like Eric Bogosian as well...took over for Jamey Sheridan nicely. Hope to see all through of these amazing people in the future after a truly well-deserved rest. Thank you, thank you, thank you one and all. God bless.

  11. I am disheartened, disappointed and incredibly FURIOUS TO SAY THE LEAST about this cast change in L&O Criminal Intent! I love this show - Goren and Eames ARE THE SHOW! I change the channel if other actors are on and after the second episode of the new season I will never watch again!!!This is devestating. What an incredibly bad decision!!!

  12. Can the producers of CI on USA be this stupid?! As all others have said, Goren and Eames are the show. Goldblum is a very good, veteran actor and a nice addition; but by no stretch of the imagination, can he carry this show! Very disappointing and frustrating. Such a great, intelligent and fun show to watch. Guess we'll just have to be satisfied w/all the reruns of the original.

  13. I've watched Law and Order, original, CI and SVU for a long time now.

I can't believe they are looking to dump Goren and Eames. I do not enjoy Jeff Goldblum anywhere near how much I enjoy Goren and Eames.

I wonder if this is a move to kill the show. Maybe they know that if they pull the detectives we enjoy the most, we'll stop watching it and then they can cancel it. Considering the lack of promotion and its crazy schedule, this crazy theory almost makes sense.

Many of my friends have stopped watching CI and if this move goes ahead, I will stop watching too.

  14. Goren and Eames were the best ever. That is the reason I watched them from NBC to USA. I started to watch it from the begining. I have always loved Vincent D'Onofrio in everything he has done. Now they are letting go of Vincent and Kathryn, that is a cheap shot. They deserve much more than that. For 8 years I have watched the show religiously, but after this 2nd episode of the show. I will no longer watch LO:CI. I do not like Jeff Goldblum, his acting is average at best.I will find other programs to watch in that time frame on Tuesday @9:00. You just killed the two characters that made the WHOLE SHOW. I am sorry to say I no longer will watch that show. I bet alot of people feel the same way I do. You are going to lose alot people, who like I, that really loved the show. I also didn't like the way it ended. And whoever wrote this espiode, is just plain idiotic. I guess when you look at it, its all about the money for GE. Vincent made GE alot of money and to be treated that way is a travesty. So long LO:CI, not watching anymore. Thanks to your stupid decision. Goodbye Goren and Eames. Goren and Eames fan forever.

  15. It is sad to see Goren leave the show but it was a shock to see Eames leave as well. But,
I guess that means I will be looking for something else to watch during that time slot.
Because, I agree I have been watching C/I since the beginning and have loved the chemistry between Goren and Eames. It will never be the same.

  16. If it wasn't bad enough what they were doing to them, I think the way they have written them out is absurd. Goren is barely given any screen time, and when he does he can't control his basic emotions. That's not the Goren we know. And Eames was not shown much, but playing to JG, than she has to fire Goren? They could have at least done something more than "see ya around". Why not let them go out showicasing their talents, give the "characters" some closure, or at least an episode up to the caliber we expect from this team, we all know why they are leaving, why make it the worst episode ever?

  17. This is the pits, no more CI for me. Goren and Eames are the show. We finely get a great show and they go and miss this up for us.

  18. I too think we have come to the end of a once greay show. Perhaps another network will create a show utilizing their great chemistry.

  19. Good-bye CI, I won't be watching it again. Without Goren and Eames it isn't worth watching. JG is too cocky and acts like a big know it all, can't stand him. You took a great show and turned it to crap...

  20. Victor D'Orofrio is an outstanding, under-rated actor. If Wolf believes the show is strictly successful based on the scripts, he has seriously overlooked the talent that brought those words to life. Kathryn Erbe and Victor D'Orofrio were discarded like last year's fashions. If this is the way talented people are treated, I regret having supported this show for years.

  21. Long time fan of L&O CI (and all versions of L&O) and without Goren and Eames forget about it! After watching the shows with the intro of Jeff Goldblum- it's like I read someone else write, the show should be renamed "The Jeff Goldboum Show". Lousy, lousy- LOUSY! And this new Stevens character replacing Eames? Sorry but she isn't filling the shoes of Eames character, not even close! Poor acting, period. There may still be a Law & Order Criminal Intent show but I'll be tuning to something else!

  24. I'm still so confused. I love, love, love, Goren and Eames. As far as I'm concerned there is no LOCI without them. It'll just be another sad spinoff type show. Jeff Goldblum is talented but no way can he pull this off and carry this show. Were Goren and Eames really fired??? Or were they just ready bot it to end and to try other things??? If the rumor is true that they were fired...then that just shows the stupidity of this network. Please bring them back. There are so few shows on these days that actually have a plot and good actors. We are just inundated with the stupid reality shows...we drowing in them. I've always been so proud that the networks and writers have kept this quality of show on the air. BUT they sure blew this one. I just keep hoping they will see Goldblum doesn't have it and bring Goren and Eames back. With these talented writers i know they can write a script for this. So come on USA admit you mistake and bring our guys back. Kudos to Vincent D'Onofrio and Katheryn Erbe. We miss you more than we can ever say.
