Was it great? Was it ok? Was it pathetic?

We are delighted to have Goren and Eames back for Season 10 and wish things were different for Ross....

TODA DESPEDIDA ES TRISTE, PERO ESTA ME PARECIO MUY TRISTE,CUANDO BOBBY BESA EL ROSTRO DE EAMES, Y LA ABRAZA, LA SENTI YO, Y MUCHO ME HUBIERA GUSTADO SENTIR SU LABIO SOBRE MI MEJILLA Y ABRAZARLO. VINCENT ES SIMPLEMETE ADORABLE. SUEÑO CONQUE EN LA PROXIMA TEMPORADA REGRES, PROQUE ESTA DUDO QUE TENGA EXITO. VUELVE PRONTO BOBBY QUE TE ESTEREMOS ESPERANDO ANSIOSAS.
ReplyDeleteI think the 2 last episodes were the pitts. They showed Vincent and Katryn and Eric no real respect for writing a good decent script. For 8 years we fans have been loyal to USANETWORK. It was a big slap in the face for all 3 actors. I have watched all 8 seasons, when they moved from NBC to USANETWORK. I have always liked Vincent D'Onofrio and was glad when he joined the L&O:CI.I will follow him wherever he goes. Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian are also great actors. I am posting this because the last 2 episodes were MY SERIES FINALE FOR L&O:CI. I am not watching and didn't watch last nights episode. I cannot stand Jeff Goldblum , he is let's say an average actor, not compared to Vincent D'Onofrio. I first saw Vincent from Mystic Pizza onwards. I am a loyal fan to Vincent, also Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian. The scene when they shot Danny Ross was pathetic. They could have written a better script. Alot of loyal L&O:CI fans are very upset and angry. I have my 8 years of DVD's and re-runs on Bravo TV. It was a cheap shot and thats all they get as a farewell. The scene where Vincent kisses Kathryn on the cheek, then they embrace was hard for me to watch, but I have it on DVR. You will lose alot of viewers, if you think that last night's episode is good things to come, you are wrong. They just wanted to see what kind of junk you put out there. Wait till next week's episode when you look at the ratings for the show. GOREN/EAMES/ROSS FOREVER. Thats what loyalty means to me. I don't know about USANETWORK_LAWORDER:CI what have you done? You have truly lost one true loyal fan. You can have Jeff Goldblum(average actor) at best. Maybe below average.
ReplyDeleteIn an interview showrunner Walon Green said that they have tried their best to give Goren & Eames -and what about Ross?- a good send-off... They have tried... Seriously? OBVIOUSLY, THEY FAILED!
ReplyDeleteI always loved the subtlety of LOCI, but IMO this episode was anything but subtle. And too rushed. And the way they were selling us Nichols and Stevens... I disliked it too much. (BTW the name Serena Stevens reminds me of Bewitched)
And the last scene... though I loved it I think I would prefered a better plot and screenplay, with no kiss and hug. JMHO. I'm still very sad and disappointed... :-(
So Ross was the casualty to get rid of Goren and Eames. Did I say how much I hate USA/NBCU?
Of course, I won't be watching LOCA (it's the nickname I'm using for their "new recycled show")
If I didn't say before, the binders are awesome! :-)
What a pathetic ending for two great actors! I thought Goren was so out of character. He definately was not acting like the Bobby I know and love. The plot was totally confusing and unbelievable. Even after reading all the plot synopsises I am still confused on the plot. The story line should have centered around Goren and Eames instead of Zack and his new partner. Although it made sense that Zack would be involved because Ross was an ex-partner, he had too much screen time considering this was the last time we would be seeing Bobby and Alex. And why have Bobby exit in disgrace? I would love to see a network (NOT USA or NBC) come out with a new show with Bobby and Alex becoming partners in their own private detective agency. What a rotten end Loyalty was to what was the best detective show on TV! The only loyalty shown was the loyalty Alex showed to Bobby as she turned in her badge. I hope the rumours are not true about Alex coming back to partner with Jeff Goldblum. I also hope Vincent does not make any further appearances on the show as a guest. USA does not deserve either one of these two great actors and real "Characters"! Goodbye Bobby and Alex! I already miss you both! Gojeffie
ReplyDeleteI like it.It was short but sweet especially when Eames said Bobby is the best and will always be the best.I liked when kissed her cheek and hugged her.You can see the love they have for each other.
ReplyDelete@Maria Isabel
ReplyDeleteLOL, I call it LOLA ;)
i like it ,too.
ReplyDeletegood and (open ) end for Bobby and Alex .
will they return somewhere somehow someday ????
Here's my full length comment. It's not very nice to TPTB.
ReplyDeleteAnd please nobody watch the Goldblum version of LOCI. Nothing against him personally but we can't prove a point if we keep watching and the ratings don't suffer. They will never mention Goren or Eames ever again and I doubt either will return even to do a cameo. Wolf Productions is done with them.
And Walon Green certainly failed at giving them an adequate send off. They're more interested in a new audience for LOCI. They're done with us so we should be done with them.
Oops, forgot the link. lol

ReplyDeleteSorry, I was confused. I meant the episode was anything EXCEPT subtle.
ReplyDelete@ Tjara
"Ni LOCA vería ese LOCI" (Not even CRAZY I would watch that LOCI) ;-)
@ Udengui
(For years LOCI was a decent and very well done show. Now is full of holes and there are not enough patches to fix it.) IMO.
ReplyDeletete amamos Donofrio!!!
ReplyDeletevoce e melhor que tudo isso!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile I loved the last scene between Bobby and Alex, I agree the story was awful. There is no way I will watch it without the 2 of them. I was so mad that they didn't get the last episode to themselves. Believe me, just because you threw the other two in there isn't going to make the loyal viewers watch. I was glad that Bobby kissed Alex--they worked 8 years together so they would definetely be close--I only wished they had shown that scene in the beginning and then I wouldn't have to had watch the rest of the program. Bev
ReplyDeleteInstead of rewriting my views on loyalty again (it's kind of long and not too friendly :)) I will just say that I gave out two chronically moronic awards in my post, and if interested in reading my views, you can always jump to my website and read the post entitled "The U SUCK ASS TV Network (now we know what the USA in the name stands for)…"
ReplyDeleteI hope that doesn't violate the rules on this website.
DOWN WITH MONK!! BRING BACK GOREN AND EAMES!!
I posted this on the USA board, but I'll rerun it here; my thoughts, opinions, gripes, in no particular order:
ReplyDelete-This had to be the worst episode in terms of continuity. I didn’t pay any attention to the writing credits, but did they seriously drag someone in off the street? That was the only thing that made any sense to me. Because there were so many glaring errors in canon, it was too rushed, too messy with many gaps. Walon Green comes off as an ass in interviews, with no regard for the fans. Where were Warren Leight, Charlie Rubin, Diana Son, et al? At least they would have honored the history of the show and characters.
-“Loyalty I/II” so obviously not meant as the swan song eps for Vincent-Kate-Eric. That material was added as almost incidental. How and why was Ross involved with the FBI at this juncture?
-Zack talking to Danny’s sister? If he had been his partner for many years and friend, why the he** didn’t he talk to his sons?
-Bobby in a business suit at the funeral. The suspension. Let’s talk about that for a second. Bobby, Alex, Zack and Lt Maas were working to find out the who and why of Ross’ death. So suspend Bobby for doing his job? After all, he’d risked his life and partnership with Alex during “Purgatory” to get the crooked cops and make the Chief of D’s and the department look good? The character had struggled hard to regain his sanity and physical health (in spite of the horrid jumbled mess of season 8). And now suspend him? Poor plot line.
-More screen time and reactions for Leslie/Rodgers. She did have a relationship with Danny, and the few times we saw her passed in a blink.
-The promos focusing on Goren/D’Onofrio. Sorry, I think Eames/Erbe was just a vital a character and to exclude her was just rotten. The one constant in the show was the partnership.
-Vincent and Kate having to share billing with Goldblum in part 2. Pretty much shoved the new cast down our throats.
-The chief of D’s and Maas congratulating Alex on passing the lieutenant’s exam, acknowledging her deep feelings for Bobby, and then telling her she could be captain…if she did this one little thing…
-The goodbye scene in the office was wrenching. Seemed like it was as much about the actors saying goodbye as the partners. A reviewer for some newspaper or magazine commented that Vincent and Kate said more with their eyes, hands, shoulders than the words they said. I agree with that. I was glad that Alex put her gun and badge down. The only thing I would have done differently: telling Bobby she wasn’t staying either. Ship or no ship, I’m glad they didn’t kill Bobby and Alex off. Hmmm-calling the ending “damning with faint praise?”
-If I have to hear one more time the USA promos, “Major Case’s most Zen detective” and “Characters Welcome…” well, you know.
-If I didn’t mention it before, I will not be watching the new cast.
In closing, I thought I’d share the Encarta dictionary’s definition of loyalty.
Loyalty: “a feeling of devotion, duty or attachment to somebody or something”
Synonyms: “faithfulness, devotion, allegiance, trustworthiness, constancy, reliability, fidelity, dependability, steadfastness”
And I think that’s only true description for the actors, the characters and the fans. We will miss you Vincent, Kathryn, Eric-we’re glad to have had the pleasure of your company in our homes. Thank you!
Beautifully said Lorry! I've had such a hard time swallowing Loyalty. The word that keeps popping up in my head is "contrived". In particular the unprecedented promotion of Eames to acting Captain expressly for the purpose of firing Goren. Gimme a break.
ReplyDeleteAnd that "Be seeing you around, I guess" rips a hole in me! It sounds like something you'd say to someone you know you'll never see again. So sad.
Loyalty reinforced to me the reason we started this blog. That we needed to protest the lack of loyalty USA Network had to the actors, the characters and the fans.
As far as I'm concerned, Criminal Intent is over.
But I should add that the fact that it's over is not going to stop me blogging about it or making fanvids!
ReplyDeleteI loved watching the 2 best characters and then they were fired, nothing against Jeff Goldbloom, but will not watch it without my 2 favorite charactors. Please bring them back.
ReplyDeleteQuietfire, I have to agree - "Be seeing you around, I guess" ruined that whole last scene for me. The whole thing was disappointing, but that made it ring false in tone, as well. Crappy job on seeing off our actors. But then, I guess if they cared about that, they wouldn't have gotten rid of them in the first place.
ReplyDeleteAs I've stated on a couple of the boards, the "Eames-makes-Lt.-makes-Capt.-so-she-can-fire-Goren-ex machina" is one of the most glaring examples of lazy writing I've ever seen. Puh-leeze! An 8th grader could have come up with a better ending than that! Add to that the fact that there was NEVER any mention of her being a Sgt. - which you have to be BEFORE you can make Lt.! OYE!
ReplyDeleteA great series with an amazing actor. I shall miss watching but Goren and Eames made the show for me so wont be watching now.Vincent looks so relaxed and happy now.I wish them all success in the future especially Law and Orders BEST DETECTIVE.
ReplyDeletehttp://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gCjoAIUNEdg/S9zaydhP0ZI/AAAAAAAAAFg/J8JyZ0ji8-g/s320/TBJtweet.PNG
ReplyDeleteMaybe this will give some insight on another job for D'Onofrio and/or Erbe... like they did Orbach's Lennie Briscoe.
Loyalty (AKA The Infamous Goren/Eames Finale) it's a whole mess! I decided to forget/delete it from my memory/brain/mind/head and presume that never happened. Capt. Ross is alive and Goren and Eames are still working in MCS. Am I in denial?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, is there any news on the binders? Please, tell us and thanks in advance. :-)
The thing I found most annoying about the departure of Goren and Eames was the month-long lead up to it on USA. "Vincent D'Onofrio's final appearance on Law and Order: CI". Yes, Vincent is a wonderful actor and I've enjoyed his work for years, from Pvt Pyle in FMJ, to Edgar in MIB, and finally Bobby Goren.
ReplyDeleteBut.. What about Eames? Why no mention of her leaving in the previews? Kathryn Erbe is a brilliant actor in her own rights. Why wasn't she given the same fanfare?
IMHO
ReplyDeleteLoyalty = art imitating life
Chief Moran = Network's PTB
Goren = VDO
Eames = KE
Ross = EB
The Chief/PTB wanted to get rid of Goren/VDO
The departure of Eames/KE and Ross/EB are casualties/collateral damages.
If this was clever or lame from the writers part, that's another story.
