We hope this will help. We've composed a letter below. If you'd like to sign it (sort of like a petition!) please add your name in the comments section and approximately where you're from. Feel free to add any other thoughts, as well, and we'll include them in the binder.
Thank you so much for your brilliant portrayal of Robert Goren for the last 8 seasons. Your misfit character has affected many lives with his genius, insight, humanity, and compassion. Your tireless efforts to give your best performances are greatly appreciated.
We watched you take an intelligent, confident man living in denial of his personal feelings, to the depths of despair when those feelings were forced to the forefront in his life, all while doing an incredibly difficult job as the number one detective of NYC.
You also allowed us to see Goren begin to recover from his losses through
therapy and by reaching out to his family, and his partner, Eames, as best he could. The words may have been written for you, but your physical and emotional expression of those words touched the hearts of many, many people. You have done an exceptional job with your character and we, your fans, want you to know that Detective Robert Goren will never be forgotten.
Never.
Tanya from Ottawa.
ReplyDeleteYeah what that says pretty much.
That says it all and more. I hope Vincent knows how very much his fans love and miss him.
ReplyDeleteYou're right not to mention the hot, sexy part where we all lust after him, it would embarrass him ;-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adore you Vincent. Thanks for the fantastic 8 years as Bobby Goren. Best Of Luck in your future endevours.
ReplyDeleteBev, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada
LOVE YOU EH!
p.s. I think you're still hot and sexy even at 5o baby!
Very nicely put letter! :) I miss him on the show so much already! :(
ReplyDeleteI have followed your career over the years and I was glad when you signed on to play Robert Goren on L&O:CI. I have never missed an espisode. I also have the 8 years and 2 episodes(S9). I thnk alot of fans are very angry over the 2 episodes that were done just to put JG on the show. It was a cheapshot. I do not like Jeff Goldblum and never have. I think he is a mediocre actor at best. Kathryn Erbe was great as your partner. Both of you had the chemistry that most actors should have. I was beside myself when you gave Kathryn a kiss on the check and you two embraced. I am not going to watch the L&O:CI, I just can't stand the new actors on the show. It was a low blow what they did to you and Kathryn after 8 years. I saw the YouTube interview and you did make GE alot of money and then to be taken off the show in the shabby way they did, it is unspeakable. I will enjoy my DVD's and re-runs which run on Bravo TV. You are an awesome actor and sometimes underappreciated. I will follow you wherever you may be. I like when you were on Mystic Pizza and Dying Young you were great,I am hoping to see more of you. I wish you the very best of luck and I will continue to see what projects you have. ROBERT GOREN AND ALEX EAMES AND DANNY ROSS WERE THE WHOLE SHOW OF L&O:CI. Nothing compares to the 3 of you. GOREN/EAMES/ROSS FOREVER, in mind and dvd's and re-runs. LOVE ALL THREE OF YOU. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS.
ReplyDeleteJune M. from Northridge, CA And I'd like to add, not just 8 seasons, but 8 seasons + 2 episodes!
ReplyDeletei will miss you your the best you have made this show a hit it wont be the same without you dont go i have your pic on my phone from sweetchilly
ReplyDeleteAll of the above. I can not say it any better. I too enjoyed my DVD's of CI when the new season with JG started Tuesday night. I still will have my Vincent when ever I choose and will watch for all that you do. You are the best. Good luck in whatever you do and God bless you and you lovely family.
Que puedom as decir?
ReplyDeleteMI NUEVA FOTO!!!!! TE GUSTA ... MI AMORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
ReplyDeleteI was totally captivated by Robert Goren from the moment I happened to turn on LOCI one night. Bobby and Alex made such great partners and I never missed a show that they were in from the moment I started watching. I loved Goren's character so much that I had to investigate your other movie roles and discovered that you were a totally awesome actor in all of your roles. Thank you for the wonderful 8 years you devoted to Bobby Goren's character. You made him so real. I will miss seeing you regularly on TV, but look forward to seeing all the new characters you will portray in your future roles. Good Luck and God Bless! Vicki Ellmaker - one of your many fans from Lancaster Pennsylvania
ReplyDeleteTanya again..
ReplyDeleteval you're so right it would! but who could help themselves? he's perfect :)
Vincent, your role on LOCI caused a lot of people to look at your other work, which is also phenomenal. Your portrayal of Robert Howard was amazing and maybe your best work outside of our "Bobby" character. While that was a real life character, you made Bobby Goren real to so many people and yet you did it so subtly and naturally. Aah - could it be that you showed us what "real" acting is all about?
ReplyDeleteBobby Goren will always be remembered as the multi-dimensional person you made him to be. There may have been a script to follow, but you put the heart and soul into the character we have come to love over the years. And by the way, when Men in Black is on TV I have to stop and get me a little "Edgar" time. I thought you were hilarious in that movie. So finally, my best to you and your family. While I wish you could have another TV role soon so we can see you on a regular basis again, I understand how that would take you away from your family and those of us who respect you for your amazing talent mostly respect you for working hard to keep your family together. You seem to have you priorities straight and that can be a rare thing these days. My best to you always. I hope you know what a loyal fan base you have because we admire your exceptional talent.
Seriously? You're not going to mention the sexy, hot thing? What man doesn't like his ego polished once in a while. It's not like he's going to be reading our letters in a public forum or anything. Let's not get too mushy here girls. Sure, I appreciate his talent as much as the next girl, and the contributions he has made to society. Also that he appears to be a real family man, I love that! But, I also appreciate the fact that he's as sexy now, as he was at 30. What harm would it do in telling him that?
ReplyDeleteI'm not up to all details that have been mentioned in the letters and we certainly aren't censoring them, but this is a generic letter, much like a petition, for people to sign with their name and additional comments, if they choose to.
ReplyDeletePS: If you got more questions, contact me privately, I'd like to keep this "as clean" as possible - that means predominantly comments for the binder. My address tjara@retriever-tails.at
ReplyDeleteSo you are just signing names then? and not our comments. thats cool. I get that. I just started reading the other comments and thought I would get on the same band wagon. I'll email one to you then. Thanks Bev
ReplyDeleteNo, we're signing the complete comments. And please, by all means, do send me your letters. :)
ReplyDeleteVincent,

Vionia McCabe, 28, from queensland Australia
Vincent, I've watched CI since the first episode. I was so excited when I saw that you and Kathryn were going to be on the new show and that it would be from a different aspect from the orginal Law & Order.
ReplyDeleteI've always been a fan of yours, but Robert Goren's character was just great and it seemed like I was getting to know you so much more. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to your work and to this charcter. Looking forward to seeing where you will show up next.
Martha Richardson, Columbia, MO
I' m sure Bobby miss me so much and Alex too... I' m so sad they live Ci.... But this solution may come back Bobby and Alex i hope so!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWatty From Italy (I'm waiting for 9th season, we are at the 8th... )
As the song goes, "Simply the best, better than all the rest", And you always will be. Thanks for "giving" us Bobby. He is a rarity, just like yourself. My best to you Vincent!
ReplyDeleteI have enoyed getting to know Bobby over the years and want you to know how very much he will be missed on LOCI. I'm sure that the future holds great things for you, Vincent and I look forward to your next project. I'm sure you will shine, as always! All my best wishes to you!
ReplyDeleteVincent, I have to stop visiting all of the websites where people offer opinions about why you left Criminal Intent, as if they could get inside your head any better than Bobby Goren's. The fact remains that it is your life, your job, and your career. You can do whatever you want and while you try to consider your loyal true blue fans, we have to respect that you do what is best for yourself and your family. True artists are often driven, difficult to please, and gifted in ways the rest of us cannot fathom. You, sir, are an artist, hands down. You did everything you could with the Bobby character. I can accept that it was time to end it even if I am sad to see it go. Please know that some of us do not want to invade your privacy, dictate what you should or should not be doing, or criticizing actions that are none of our business. I for one just want to see you acting as much as possible and most of all - happy with your beautiful family. And along the way if you find a way to bring us another character to love they way we love Bobby, please know we are ready to watch. Oh by the way, I am convinced you are so talented because you were born in 1959, just 39 days after me. Happy Life!!
ReplyDeleteI loved your sensitive and charismatic portrayal of Bobby Goren, one of the most fascinating and memorable characters ever on television and the heart and soul of "Criminal Intent."
ReplyDeleteIt's not the same without you.
I have watched criminal intent from the begining shall not be watching again. Why remove these two talented actors who made criminal intent so popular? I am very saddened at not seeing Goran and Eames again. Dick Wolf hang your head in shame!!
ReplyDeletemaryanna
ReplyDeleteI shall never watch Law and Order again - both Goran and Eames were brilliant together - I am dissapointed by Dick Wolf getting rid of them when they made Law and Order so popular - he should hang his head in shame - all of their fans in the U.K. will stay loyal to them!!
maryanna for all the U.K. fans
Continued success and thanx for a great ride.
ReplyDeleteEmma
ReplyDeleteYou really are the best and the show will not be the same without you
Vincent, you are truly the most brilliant and versatile actor of our generation. I wish wonderful things and much happiness for you and your beautiful family. Thank you for sharing your genius with us! - Betsy Stowe, Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania
ReplyDeleteMr. D'Onofrio,
ReplyDeleteThank you for breathing "life" into Det. Robert Goren. You and Ms. Erbe are/were the heart and soul of LOCI. Eight years of your lives is a tremendous gift that both of you gave us. I admire and appreciate your body of work, Mr. D'Onofrio and your gamut of characters that you have created. Best wishes to you on your future projects.
Lori (aka fuzzytweetie)
Im sorry to see Goren leave i,ve enjoyed his character very much the show won,t be the same
ReplyDeleteDear Vincent,
ReplyDeleteYou have made me and millions of others extremely proud and grateful to have been a part of your life. You are a true gem of an actor, director, producer, writer and man. May you have continued success in all endeavors of your life. God Bless.
Watching your protrayal of Bobby Goren was something I looked forward to each week. I still watch re-runs all the time. I loved the program and am very sorry to see you leave. Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteDitto,
ReplyDeleteMr. Vincent Philip D'Onofrio on portraying an outstanding character as Detective Robert Goren.
In your profession and on the West Coast you are known as the Character Actors', Actor. Hopefully we will see your presence more on the silver screen, and in made for television movies.
Gracias, Danke Shein, Merci

It wont be the same now that the leading 3 characters are gone.I really liked to watch the program. Now they are gone and I wont be watching the show anymore.I am not a fan of goldblum, never was.He is going to ruin a good show.
ReplyDeleteAs I do not live in the US I asked some friends to record loyalty I / II and send the DVD to me. It is really sad that there won´t be any more Criminal Intent for me in the future. It is not the same without you and Mrs Erbe. I started watching the show in 2003 (luckily the German Television shows a lot of repetitions!!). I can now say that I haven´t missed an episode!
ReplyDeleteBecause of LOCI I started watching your other work (... "time is a personal thing"). Great stuff! I wish you and your family all the best for the future. Hopefully we can enjoy your presence on TV and film again soon.
Mr. D'Onofrio: Thank you. You regularly put as much into Bobby's character as you did John Lange's character in the renowned "Homicide: Life on the Street" - Subway.
ReplyDeleteI see that you're involved in several movie projects already; good for you - and for us!
Law and Order CI will never be the same...Goren and Eames were the show! They will be missed, and knowing they are gone, CI has lost a fan.
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. D'Onofrio: I have been entranced by your work on Criminal Intent and also find some of your movies just as captivating, i.e. Men in Black, The Whole Wide World, Mystic Pizza, The Narrows, to name a few that I have seen. Bobby Goren is a character you can be very proud of and your portrayal of his triumphs and turmoils will be unmatched forever. In my opinion you are the best at pealing back the layers of a character and you need time to do that, even though you were brilliant in The New Tenants, for what, all of five minutes? Not to mention your Orsen Wells short film. Would you be up for doing a serial movie topic such as the Jesse Stone series that Tom Selleck is doing for CBS? I like the way he portrays the character but he is no VDO. If you could find the right role, the right network, and the right to play the character your way, that would give your fans the opportunity to see you on television again and in a recurring role that lets you tell a story over time. I think you really excel at that. So I am hoping that some of the smarter networks such as CBS or TNT will jump at the chance to bring you on board. In the meantime, I will take whatever I can get with you in it and of course lots of reruns of LOCI. Thank you Vincent!!!
ReplyDeleteGoren, Eames, and Ross are C.I. !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved your sensitive and emotional portrayal of Bobby Goren, one of the most fascinating and memorable characters ever on television and the heart and soul of "Criminal Intent.........."
ReplyDeleteIt's not the same without you Vincent, beautiful Kathryn and charismatic Eric. Miss you all.......from Joyce S in Effingham IL.
I didn't like any of the Law & Orders until I saw Bobby's character, not having missed a LOCI since, I am greatly dissapointed to find out that you and Kathryn will never be coming back. I only found out tonight. I thought it was like last season that went episode for episode with the other two detectives. You were brilliant on this show. You will be missed. Dave
ReplyDeleteMr. D'Onofrio
ReplyDeleteWe will never forget this unbelievable character you built the last years. I never missed a show and always thought that of all Law&Orders out there, yours was the best and somewhat touching one of them.
I'll look forward to your next projects.
I'll miss Bobby so much.
greets
Stefanie (22yrs) from Germany
Law and Order C I isn't the same without Goren and Eames. I've watched the show faithfully and when I couldn't, I always set the DVD recorder. There isn't an actor out there would could fill the shoes of Goren. With the new actor, this Law and Order should be canceled instead of the original. Disappointed Fan:( Becky Newman in Ohio)
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I faithfully watched Law and Order criminal intent. We thought it was the best Law and Order. Vince and Kathyrn made it a great show and we are really sorry that they will no longer be part of it. It will never be the same show without them. I think they had better think about bringing them back.
ReplyDeleteAntoinette McGarry in Pennsylvania.
BRENDA FROM PUERTO RICO,US.AT FIRST, I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HIS WAYS BUT LATER ON IT WAS AWESOME. I REALLY MISS HIM AND EAMES, THERE AREN'T TOO MANY PEOPLE THAT CAN PROYECT A GOOD CHEMISTRY AND BE A GREAT TEAM. PLEASE COME BACK, OR LOOK FOR A NEW SERIE TO WORK TOGETHER.
ReplyDeleteIf they come back as guests at anytime in the near future I'll be up close and center to watch! Mr. Wolf, how about a new series featuring two ex-cops "Goren and Eames" as a detective agency partership. I'm there.
ReplyDeleteGoren and Eames can never, ever be replaced. You guys are the greatest actors and story tellers!
ReplyDeleteDude~
ReplyDeleteThanks for 8 seasons of Law & Order CI, it was great !!!
I hope you make some movies soon ! Don't stay gone for long. You are MUCH MORE than Robert Goren, for sure !!!
All the best to you. You are a GREAT actor.
Vincent, You are the best actor on television..It was fascinating to watch Goren and Eames interact..Only reruns for me now....You will be greatly missed! Christina from Austin
ReplyDeleteGoren and Eames ARE Law and Order Criminal Intent. There will be no more viewing for me and my family now that you are leaving. You will be missed.

I've often wondered if Vincent is the younger brother of my husband (he was adopted and we never knew his father). They have the same bone structure, nose and mouth, same height and build. I watch Vincent and sometimes, I'm shaken to the core by a look or a smile. It is unbelieveable. My husband still lives through Vincent.
ReplyDeleteDebbie from Perthshire Scotland says I am gutted that i wont see sexy vincent on CI. He was and is a magnificent actor and i hope to god they bring him and Kathryne back, i will NEVER watch it until they do. Please please keep him on our screens, love you Vincent x x
ReplyDeletelove you bobby will miss you so much
ReplyDeleteBarry from Oregon
ReplyDeleteI hope that keep Vincent as long as he wants to stay.
There is to be said of the best portrayal of a Sherlock Holmes mind in a crime drama, it was Bobby Goren. And...there will only be one in my mind of his prose, presentation, ADHD line delivery, in the history of crime tv. I applaud Vincent, Kathryn, the cast, and the creator: Dick Wolf.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous
There will never be a team of detectives (on the screen) more loved or to whom the viewers can relate. Your success is that you are devoted, caring, in your face honest with one another and most importantly respectful. Your return was so celebrated in my home that we threw a party. I don't care what the reason was, thank you for coming back.I cannot thank you two enough.
ReplyDeleteI found Criminal Intent in 2002 when I was spending a lot of time in the hospital with liver disease. I found it very hard to read and so spent much of my time watching incredibly mind numbing television. When I found Goren and Eames, the supporting players and the wonderful writing, I have to tell you that it made my being so ill a lot easier. I thankfully had a successful liver transplant in 2003 and I still find this show to be one of the few shows that is truly intellectually stimulating as well as entertaining. A television show doesn't save one's life and I am not claiming that this show did, but it certainly gave me something to look forward to during an incredibly scary time in my life. I so hope that this isn't the end, but if it is, you have my undying gratitude for the years of exceptional television that you have provided. Hopefully this is just a thank you letter for what you have done so far, and we will be able to send you more thank you's in the future.
ReplyDeleteI am stuggeling to find the right words to express my thoughts and feelings to you for all that you have given me as Detective Robert Goren.Just saying Thankyou doesn't seem to really say How much I appreciate all of your hard work and Dedication you have given to your character.I want you to know that I really do Think you are a Exceptional Actor with Awesome Talent. And I can't forget to mention your Incredible Great Looks.Your Love and Devotion for your career Shows with any project you take on.If there is another word to describe All of this, I am not coming up with it, but I hope I have said some of the right words to let you know what you mean to me.Thankyou So Much, and I am Praying that LOCI will continue on for Several more seasons.
ReplyDeleteYou have played an awesome character. I have loved the show for so long and Goren and Eames are the best. I will be lost on Sunday night. The way you get in there and confront the accused is just terrific. Hope we see you in season 11!
ReplyDeleteGoren is a unique character who never ceases to amaze. His "friends" come from all walks of life and possess special knowledge. His own thirst for information is limitless and knows no boundaries. Your portrayal of this character is fantastic and makes every episode memorable. This series has never lost it's spark and there is a continuous appeal. I look forward to another year.
ReplyDeleteVincent D'Norfrio in my opinion is a fantastic actor ... what he made Goren become to me is unbelievable!!! I am not a tv watcher but caught him about 7 seasons ago and have been hooked ever since. I have bought ever season DVD they have out. My wife says she looses me to him everytime the show comes on and if there is a marathon, she just goes out with her friends!!! Even if there is a game on, I am always switching channels and before you know it, I've forgotten about the game becoming so entranced with Detective Goren. THIS IS A GREAT SHOW AND SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN OFF THE AIR!!! GOREN IS AMAZING AND THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER!!! GREAT WORK AND LOOKING FORWARD TO SEASON 11!!!
ReplyDeleteVincent is my #1 all time favorite actor!! He is a role model for me and I love him! Goren and Eames make the best team......Hope they will be back soon..Vincent thank you for being such a wonderful talented actor and god bless you both!! Hopefully there will be a season 11 !!
ReplyDeleteVincent there was something special that you brought to your character beyond understanding. The passion you put into this character was incredible. The last 10 minutes of the last episode was my favorite, where Goren reflected on his life, job, and family, it's like real life really. I miss the show. I appreciated and thank you for all the time you put into your acting. Good luck and many blessings on your life journey.
ReplyDeleteGoren is and I think always will be my favorite TV character thanks to Mr. D'Onofrio... I hope he continues his career in film and shows the world that he is one of the greatest character actors of all time. Thanks Vincent!
ReplyDeletemy heart is sad and missing the show/you
ReplyDeleteDear Vincent,
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented. I have a feeling you were not appreciated by people around your professional settings. I love your role as Detective Goran. It was my saddest day when you stopped L&O CI. No one can replace you and "Eames." Please do another series that would last like 5 years at least.
I was looking into your other comments re. your movies and read how you touched the hearts of your fans. Please make more films.
Love
May
I love both of you and would love to see a return in the future. even though its been two years I'm sure all us true die hard fans will do whatever it takes to get the word out and get good ratings. I just became a really big fan and fell in love with both characters. I just finished the last episode and as I type there are tears in my eyes. I thought this could not be the end. I actually didn't believe it was till I looked it up and found out that it really was. I think we deserve more. finally to see robert happy with alex solving cases is what I was waiting for all seasons. and when it does finally, it's all over?!! I will forever be a fan. all my love to you Vincent and Kathryn!
