We all remember those amusing moments with Goren in M.E. Rodgers exam room. He was constantly touching things, poking at the corpse, picking up severed hands and such. (The look on Rodgers face when he did that was priceless!)

Recently, I began following Leslie Hendrix on Twitter, and a comment she made in an email to a fellow Vincent fan prompted me to send her a Tweet. (See the blogpost containing the email here). Below is a screenshot of my Tweet and her response. Just like Rodgers, Leslie Hendrix ROCKS! :)

Thank you to themany, many people who have sent tie clips and Skittles to USA Networkand who have written to let us know. You are awesome! But we thinkthe time has come to stop.

Ithink I've been procrastinating about this far too long; that by writingthis blog post, I am giving up on Criminal Intent. Is that possible for any of us?

Thepowers that be have disassembled the set and sold all the props. The actorshave moved on. We are so lucky to have had our Season 10. Did youall notice how much lighter and brighter the production was? We sawbehind the scenes videos, interviews with the actors, a more expressive Gorenand were treated to Twitter sessions with our beloved cast members. Yes, we've been verylucky.

Weknow that Vincent has plans for a new television series, starring himself andEthan Hawke, called Blue Tilt which we hope tosee in production next year. Chris Brancato, the show runner for S10 of Criminal Intent is also involved in Blue Tilt.

Thankyou to everyone who took part in the Criminal Intent Binder Project and the TieClips and Skittles Campaign! Our blog started in protest with the Fluff Campaign (first suggested by Nantz) and we never stopped. This has been our hearts' work and we hope we madea difference. Your support fuelled our fire and it's been the most amazing experience.

And we want USA Network to sit up and take notice

Haven't we all been watching Goren's tie clip go higher and occasionally go off kilter over the last 10 years? Message boards have dedicated pages and pages to Goren's tie clip and it's placement. And don't we all love to see Alex eating her Skittles to keep her energy up? We even sent Vincent a tie clip and Kathryn some Skittles in the binders we put together last year. We've decided to use Goren's tie clip and Eames' Skittles as symbols of our desire for their return.

So we’re urging you to send
Tie Clips and Skittles to USA Network.

I’m sure there are oodles of abandoned tie clips at thrift stores which can be acquired inexpensively and whether you send a bag of Skittles or just the wrapper or even a picture of Skittles, we think they’ll get the message.

Is The Case Closed for Law & Order: Criminal Intent? Kathryn Erbe Still Hopeful for a Return

The director has called cut. The film has stopped rolling. The extras have been sent home. Still, despite advertisements touting Sunday's Law & Order: Criminal Intent as the series finale, star Kathryn Erbe is still hopeful the show could live on.

"I know that I would be there in a heartbeat. I'm fairly positive that Vincent [D'Onofrio] feels the same way. Everyone was really hoping that, in the 11th hour, we'd get some word," she tells TVGuide.com. "Whether the fans are able to muscle us back or not, who knows. They have amazing power."

Erbe knows the power of fans very well. After leaving the show unexpectedly at the beginning of Season 9 with her longtime on-screen partner in crime, D'Onofrio, Erbe is convinced it was pressure from Criminal Intent's loyal viewers that paved the way for their return for the series' tenth season. "They brought us back. That's clear to me," she says. "The outcry was deafening. So maybe they can do it again?"

Producers expressed interest in keeping the spin-off alive earlier this year, and the series itself has experienced somewhat of a creative resurgence as it nears the end. The tenth season has welcomed guest stars including Cynthia Nixon and Steven Weber, and turned hugely popular news headlines like Charlie Sheen's meltdown and the Spider-man Broadway saga, into riveting hourlong cases. The drama has even introduced a heavily serialized storyline with Detective Goren's therapy sessions.

The ratings have also been on the uptick — improving from last season's average of 3.05 million viewers to 3.81 million viewers over the seven episodes so far this year.

"I just know that these eight episodes were like a gift. To be able to come back and have closure with the crew and the cast and everyone," Erbe says. "If you lose something, when you get it back, it's just a different perspective. So we all came back rested and fresh and ready to have fun and do good episodes."

She adds: "If that happens again, fantastic. It would just be like icing on the cake."

The series' proposed end comes just as many are starting to question the future of the entire Law & Order franchise. When Criminal Intent launched in September 2001, the flagship series and its first spin-off, SVU, were both thriving. Since then, two poorly received iterations came and went quickly (2005's Trial by Jury and 2010's Law & Order: LA) and the mothership has been off the air for a year. If Criminal Intent does not return, SVU (which just lost longtime star Christopher Meloni) will be the only version left standing.

"It's strange and sad. That is a huge hit to New York actors and New York crew," Erbe says. "It's been such a staple for over 20 years and it's kind of a rite of passage so to speak. ... It helped a lot of people stay afloat."

Despite her continued hope for a Season 11, Erbe says she thinks the end will be a happy one for fans if Sunday's episode indeed serves as the series finale. "I know we set out to make it satisfying and we're going out much more OK than we were the last time," she says, referencing Goren and Eames' first exit in 2010. "The one thing I know you're going to see is that Goren and Eames are on much better, more solid ground. Healthier, happier and in good shape."

Luckily, Erbe knows she won't have to close the book completely on Detective Eames, thanks to the stamina of Law & Order reruns. "I just imagine Eames continuing on, solving these cases with Goren and living her life, and in a way that is what will happen with the show," she says. "No matter if the episodes are new or old, fans just keep watching, which astounds me — their bottomless appetite for these characters and the stories."

Law & Order: Criminal Intent's series finale airs Sunday at 9/8c on USA.

Law and Order: CI - More Please

Well, we were able to see our heroes come back for one more season...and what a season!! Fabulous!! Stupendous!! And joyous for all of us Goren and Eames fans!! It's what we dreamed of and fought for.

But it seems to be over all too soon. Vincent, Kathryn, and Dick Wolf have all indicated that if we write to USA Network, we might have another chance at seeing our favorite show renewed. We'd like to take that chance and try another email campaign, even though Vincent stated yesterday that it will be "gone forever" after the last two episodes. If I recall correctly, during our original campaign, he said he wouldn't be coming back - but he did! Things change. And people can make change happen!!

Question:
Kathryn, would Eames like to have been offered the position of Captain for all of the detectives?

Kathryn Erbe:
No. I don't think Eames wanted that job and I think that's why she bowed out after having fired Goren. I think she in solidarity to him she did not want that position. And so I think that she is happiest when they're working together solving cases. And I would go one step further to say I'm glad she didn't want that position or I wouldn't have a job.

Question:
What would you like to say to everybody who's been a supporter of Criminal Intent and of you as well?

Kathryn Erbe:
I cannot thank everyone enough. This has been such an amazing experience. Since leaving the show I mean I was aware that people were enthusiastic but when I was asked to step down a year and a half ago was when I really - it really hit home for me how strongly people did support the character and me, especially this group that they collaborated on what they call the binder project. And they sent one to Vincent, to me and to Eric Bogosian. And when I received this sort of in the depths of my despair about not being on the show anymore I was speechless. I was so moved by everyone's support. It has been really just an amazing experience. I'm so, so grateful.

Question:
How has Eames changed since you and Goren have returned for the final season.

Kathryn Erbe:
I think when we return initially she is a little concerned for Goren wondering how he's going to be being back. And then her concerns are dispelled and we are back to business. I think Eames is very happy to be back in major case and to be working with him again because they have such a good working relationship. And they are she's just grateful.

Question:
What did you think about the episodes when Eames and Goren didn't catch the bad guy?

Kathryn Erbe:
I loved those actually. I thought it was always interesting to mix it up a little bit and especially Nicole Wallace those episodes where I really looked forward to them personally. And what she was going to be up to. And I really wished that Eames was going to be the one to take her down in defense of Goren, protect him. But it didn't go that way.

Question:
Jay, how does it feel to return to the show on the side of the law after you were already on as a killer in season 2?

Jay O. Sanders:
Oh, it's great. It's an open world, the whole Law & Order world. I played both a lawyer and a perp on the mother ship as well. But I've known Kate and Vince for a long time. And the chance to come on and work with them in support this way, has been terrific. It's a great working relationship. And I always come ion and have a great time and it's like going to the playground. Whether I'm being evil or good is sort of beside the point. It's just getting to play with terrific actors in fun stories.

Question:
Kathryn, what was your first day like back on the set and with Vincent?

Kathryn Erbe:
Oh, it was awesome. My I felt actually very emotional being back. I was so, so glad to be back. And I didn't know how it was going to be, whether we were going to be rusty or not. And my memory of it is just walking down from my dressing room onto the set, passing one person after another who I've known for ten years, some more. And it was really like coming home. And it especially felt that way doing the things with Vince.

It just was like riding a bike. We we have done it for so long. I've now done this show for a quarter of my life. And so we just have a shorthand and there's a lot of unspoken communication because we just understand how we think the things should go. And we've just been laughing and everybody is - we have 95% of our crew back really out of loyalty. They left jobs or they waited to come back and do these eight episodes with us. And it just has felt really, really wonderful. And the first day was the epitome of that.

Question:
What were your first thoughts when you were asked to reprise your role?

Kathryn Erbe:
I was just so really, really happy. I was devastated not to be doing the part all the way through. And it was a huge joy to have them ask me to come back.

Question:
Jay, Captain Hannah seems to be the perfect person to keep Goren in line. Can you talk about the relationship between the two characters and what it's like to work with Vincent?

Jay O. Sanders:
Yes. They're friends and one of them got a step up which is me in this case. And just at the perfect moment because my friend needed a hand back. I brought him back insisting there's no reason to go forward with a job like this without the best you've got. So I wanted Goren and Eames completes him. Their chemistry is what makes the magic. And I'm just there to manage it and to keep things in a groove. And the friendship that we have before which Vince and I already felt anyway, and Kathryn and I, makes it a really fun environment. It was nice having the show that showed last night that was just the jiggle room of that where he gets out of line just for a moment, long enough for us to say wait a minute, this is not happening like this. I'm in charge. And once that's said everything becomes easy.

Question:
Kathryn, Chris Brancato said that there is an episode coming up where we see a little bit of Eames' background, kind of where she grew up. Can you talk about that a little bit?

Kathryn Erbe:
Yes. My character grew up in Inwood which is at the very top of Manhattan. And in that episode there is a crime that we trace to the neighborhood. We all collectively, get to go and see for example, where Eames went to elementary school. And she does a kind of mini tour as they're walking to interview some people about the crime. You get little snippets about aspects of her childhood. And we in fact go and hang out with her dad. And he's quite a colorful character and drinks a little too much, played by a great actor, Raymond J. Barry. We had a really good time.

Question:
If the numbers are good and if this does come back for another year are you both onboard? Do you want to continue being a part of this?

Kathryn Erbe:
In a heartbeat. Jay, I'll let you answer for yourself.

Jay O. Sanders:
Sure. I'm having a great time. I have various commitments in the theater at this point. But the great thing about it is that the show is right here in New York and allows me to be with my family and around where the theater is. And also I would do anything I could to make it all work out. I love the working conditions and I love the company.

Question:
Jay, in the coming episodes do we get a little window into your character?

Jay O. Sanders:
Not really right now. I think we're working a limited amount and the focus has been primarily on the cases which is the way Law & Order has always been constructed. And Dick has been very careful to keep things always guided that direction. I think you may have seen more about my character last night just in terms of clamping down with my friend saying we're friends but here I'm the Captain. Beyond that it's just us keeping each other buoyed up through the long hours of working on a case.

Question:
Kathryn, you've played a detective for so long now, if we were to give you a prop gun and badge and drop you off at a real police station how long do you think you could fake it before being found out as a fraud?

Kathryn Erbe:
Very good question. I don't know. I think probably right away. Probably right away. But maybe not. I really don't know. It's I have spent a little time at my local precinct, the 76th Precinct in Brooklyn, in the last couple of months. And I would hope I would fit in. But they're certainly nice people and I like hanging out and talking to them all out there. I think my hair might be a little long. I'd have to put it back.

Question:
Is there something you might say or do that would give you away?

Kathryn Erbe:
Yes. I'd probably be too much of a wimp. I think my impression of what the real people do I have such respect for them and I'd be wondering where the hair and makeup people are and where Craft Services and who do I get to hide behind and who tells me what to do when the perp is coming at me and I've got to pull my gun. So I can't even touch what they do every day.

Question:
You talked about how much you love doing the show and how much it broke your heart to not be doing the show. Would you have wanted or been willing to do the show if Vincent wasn't your partner?

Kathryn Erbe:
I probably would have gone on to do it but I wouldn't have been happy without him. In hindsight the way things happened this is the perfect, perfect way for it to have gone down. I don't think that Eames would have it just wouldn't have been the same. And this is what we love to do. This is what I love to do. This is what the audience loves to see. And they made it very clear when we weren't doing it anymore, that this is what they wanted to watch. I know it makes me incredibly happy to be doing it again with Vince. And I think he feels the same way.

Question:
Since this is the final season is there something that you want to take off of the set as a memento?

Kathryn Erbe:
You know, when I left the last time I took what I wanted. I took the picture of my dog Frieda which I keep meaning to bring back and I haven't remembered to bring back. When we first started shooting this show in the building where they printed the Post, the New York Post. And by the time we started shooting they were only printing the paper there and their reporters weren't there anymore. But we used a lot of their paperwork that they left behind. And there were these three notebooks from maybe the '50s and '60s that were one man's diary.

Not quite his diary he kept a record of every expenditure that he had. And they were written in this impeccable script. And I just found them fascinating and they followed us from set to set. And every time I would find them I would just spend all the time in between shooting looking through these things. And so I have them and I was never going to bring them back. I would keep my badge too if I could but that would be illegal.

Question:
What would you like to be the end for your character?

Kathryn Erbe:
I'd just really like for her to be happy. I think I don't want her to be killed and I would like for her to be happy. I think a lot of - she's had a tough time in little ways here and there. And it would be nice for her to be a happier person.

Question:
What about promoted, because she started to be promoted before but there were strings to it and so she didn't want to follow through on it. Do you think she might want to do it now?

Kathryn Erbe:
Could be. I'm sure she'd be open to that. Yes. That might be interesting. But I do think she enjoys working with Goren and being out there in the nitty-gritty.

A Heartfelt Letter from Kathryn Erbe

Interview: "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" Executive Producer Chris Brancato

It was a dose of good news for "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" fans late last year when it was announced that original cast members Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe were returning to the long-running series after departing the year before. However, the good news came accompanied by a dark cloud as it was also announced that this 10th season would be the show's last. After the abrupt cancellation last year of mothership "Law & Order," the crystal lining is that at least the execs at the USA Network, where "Criminal Intent has been housed since 2007, granted the show a chance to properly wrap up the acclaimed crime drama. Enter Executive Producer Chris Brancato, who was freed up from consulting duties on FOX's now-delayed series "Terra Nova," and took over the "Criminal Intent" showrunner reigns.

In between shooting in New York City, Brancato took a break to talk with our Jim Halterman about this final crop of episodes and the new focus on D'Onofrio's Detective Robert Goren. While this season will feature the usual cavalcade of guest stars like Jay Mohr, Julia Ormand, Steven Weber, Julie White, Neal McDonough and Geri Ryan, Brancato also teased this Sunday's season premiere inspired by the real life troubles of actor Charlie Sheen as well as the upcoming episode modeled after the drama of Broadway's "Spider-Man: The Musical."

Jim Halterman: There was some shuffling around of episodes so the first episode back is actually not the one that explains the return of D'Onofrio's Goren and Erbe's Eames, right?

Chris Brancato: Actually, [the network] took our episode four, which is our 'Charlie Sheen episode,' and they decided it was so timely so they decided to put that as the first episode that will air on Sunday night. It's called 'Rispetto.' A writer came to me with the notion of doing a study of the collateral damage that occurs when a Charlie Sheen-like person exists. Of course, there are multiple people around Charlie Sheen that have reasons to try to protect him if, for instance, he was accused of a murder because they make so much money from him. From the President of the studio that makes 'Two and a Half Men' to the creator of the show, etc. But, for our purposes for 'Criminal Intent,' we decided to set the character in the world of New York Fashion, kind of like [designer] Michael Kors. I should point out that it's a very, very good episode and one that will leave many diehard viewers wondering 'How'd [Goren and Eames] come back?' and now that is our episode two, 'The Consoler.' You'll be asking 'Why are they back?' and then episode two will answer how and why they've come back. It was my goal to not make a big deal about it. I didn't want to start with them staring at each other across the squad room saying 'I've missed you' and hug. It's not what we do on 'Law & Order' so I actually started three weeks into their return on a major case and then, yes, in episode two we explain the circumstances of that return.

JH: Can you talk about shaping this season and if you approached it differently because it is presumably the final one?

CB: I felt like there needed to be some sort of organizing principle or umbrella under which to kind of filter the shows; to act as a determinant as to whether the show was right for this batch or not right. Obviously this show has done many, many episodes and lived many years at NBC, which is a broadcast network, and when you're doing 22 episodes you have a very wide latitude to cover every corner of the city. Now, with a more limited number of episodes on a cable network that, first of all, bills itself as 'Characters Welcome' what Dick [Wolf, Executive Producer and creator] and I decided was to organize these episodes around a basic umbrella concept. Greed is a motivator in many of the crimes you see on television but we wanted to make this batch have a kind of organizing principle, an exploration of love gone wrong. That act fits many different scenarios. Sometimes it's romance and love goes wrong. Sometimes it's the love for one male friend for another [and] sometimes it's the love of a daughter for a father or one family for another. In other words, ultimately what you'll find is an exploration in these eight episodes of where and why love went awry. For me, that allowed me to have some 'fusion' or organizing principle for the show.

JH: How has it been for Kathryn and Vincent to be back in these familiar characters and environment?

CB: When they came back to do these episodes, I remember Katie said, 'You know, I spoke to Vincent a few days ago and we're really excited to come back and do this. It's been tougher than we thought to leave the show and leave the crew...we feel this sense of excitement." I'm a big believer in that if you can harness how the actors are really feeling and make that sort of a little bit part of the fiction you're creating it often serves the fiction quite well.

JH: All of the 'Law & Order' series are careful about delving too often into the personal lives of our regular characters yet we're going to spend quite a bit of time on Goren's life. How did that decision come about?

CB: Dick wanted Goren to essentially be shrunk and to have to go under some psychiatric counseling and it was a condition of his return to the major case squad that he had seven police-mandated shrink sessions with an outside specialist that is hired. So this season features Julia Ormand playing the shrink and we're going to have an arc that is essentially Goren getting interrogated over the course of seven episodes with the on-the-nose purpose of determining his fitness as a case detective but at the same time, a plumbing of what makes him tick and hopefully leave us with some kind of sense of a conclusion in terms of his mental health and well-being. At first, I was skeptical about the notion partially because 'The Sopranos' used a shrink to create effect, as have other shows, including the original 'Law & Order.' We ended up hiring Warren Leight, former show runner of this show but also show runner of 'In Treatment,' to write that shrink-arc because he really specializes in this kind of thing. And as I sat there just a few weeks ago watching Vincent D'Onofrio and Julia Ormand do these scenes my skepticism just vanished immediately.

JH: Did the fact that you were exploring Goren's character make you want to perhaps do the same with Eames?

CB: First of all, I completely agree with that sentiment which is to say this - in some people's minds the show can be looked at as 'this is a Vincent D'Onofrio vehicle' because you can get in the mindset that over here is Sherlock Holmes and over here is Watson and the movie is called 'Sherlock Holmes,' not 'Sherlock and Watson.' That said, there is no doubt in my mind, and I would guarantee that Vincent would agree 1000%, that this show is a two-hander meaning. It's about two detectives and it's about their relationship and Bobby Goren wouldn't be the character we've come to love without Eames, no way. There are very few actresses that could pull off what Katie does. We like to joke about it and I don't mean to undersell it but somebody has to carry the water in a procedural. They have to recount the information that the detectives have observed or sussed out or come out with a stream of facts that you just learned getting off the phone. Though it would seem to be the simplest thing in the world to regurgitate information there's almost nobody who can do it and make it interesting and make it feel completely organic to the scene. Katie is a master at not only doing that [but] nobody delivers a little bit of attitude better than her.

JH: The episode focusing on the controversial Broadway musical 'Spider-Man' is also getting the 'Criminal Intent' treatment. Can you talk about how you approached that topic?

CB: We're doing a version of 'Spider-Man: The Musical' where the rigging breaks and it turns out to be murder. Our version, since we can't obviously use 'Spider-Man,' which is a trademark property, is 'Icarus: The Rock Musical.' We're not involved in this insanely complicated computerized rigging mechanism much but I'm only getting a taste of what poor Julie Taymor and all these people have to go through because we're going to do a wire rigged stunt. It's insanely complicated to pull off even though we're just dropping the guy from the ceiling to the floor. [Laughs.]

JH: So, let's say these episodes do really well. Is there a chance 'Criminal Intent' could come back for another season?

CB: I think we all probably know that Dick Wolf never says never. I know the show and my interaction with him was phenomenal. He cares so deeply and he is engaged in the show in a way that you might not expect somebody who is so successful and been doing it for so long. He loves it! This is his baby, of sorts. Yeah, I think if viewers are enthused about Vincent and Katie coming back I don't see why it has to be the final season.

Dick Wolf Hopes for Criminal Intent Reprieve, Says D'Onofrio & Erbe Have Never Been Better

Dick Wolf must be feeling a bit of deja vu this spring. Just as a year ago he was lobbying for NBC to pick up the original Law & Order for a 21st season (allowing it to set a record as TV’s longest-running drama series), the L&Overlord is now hoping that Criminal Intent‘s imminent 10th season won’t be — as announced by USA Network — its last.

“Being the unbridled optimist that I am, I still have hope that this is a ‘victory lap’ and not a ‘swan song,’” Wolf said during a Thursday conference call. “Based on the work so far, I think the audience is going to be very happy, relieved, and welcoming… and hopefully enough fans will come out so the powers-that-be reconsider their decision.”

Weighing in Criminal Intent‘s favor, of course, is the much anticipated return of two original series leads, Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe (as Detectives Robert Goren and Alexandra Eames) — not that Wolf ever wanted them long gone in the first place.

“It was never a decision to have them disappear into the wilderness,” Wolf says of the duo’s single-season extraction, during which Jeff Goldblum rode solo as Detective Zach Nichols. Looking forward, Wolf says, “I don’t think Vincent and Katie have been any better ever in the series. [Criminal Intent] is back to the power of the first two seasons.”

Of course, there is the none-too-small matter of getting Goren back onto the Major Cases Squad, fired as he was for insubordination at the start of Season 9. That segue is orchestrated by a new captain, Joseph Hannah (played by Jay O. Sanders), whom Goren knows from the police academy.

There’s also a bit of head-shrinking involved in Goren’s comeback. As Wolf explains, “In getting him back in the good graces of the police department, part of the agreement was for him to go back into psychological counseling.” As such, there will be one scene per episode where Goren meets with a therapist played by Julia Ormond (CSI: NY).

Those scenes, Wolf says, “will answer some questions that have been hanging since the first season, and over the course of [Season 10's] eight episodes you’re going to see something about the redemptive power of psychotherapy. This is an attempt to move [Goren] back to the psychologically complete detective that he was in the first season of the show.”

Whether this run of episodes kicking off Sunday, May 1, at 8/7c, is a “swan song” or “victory lap,” Wolf says, “This has been a great experience…. There is a real power in seeing this show come back at full-octane, with stories that are really interesting.”

After 18 months away, the actor returns, refreshed, to 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent.'

After a year and a half absence, Vincent D'Onofrio, 51, returns to "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" as the brilliant but troubled detective Robert Goren for the show's 10th season, which debuts May 1 on the USA Network.

I like your character, Det. Goren, but he seems to get a mixed reaction. I think some people don't get him.

It's always been like that. I think that's OK. It's not for everybody, especially the way I play him is not to everybody's taste. People, I think, unless they allow themselves to take the leap of faith, they don't like the intelligence, the ridiculous amount of knowledge he has. It doesn't make it easy in a 40-minute show to solve a crime [persuasively] in the first place, but then to have a guy who's as clever as Goren solve it, it kind of makes it even harder to get away with. It's a battle for people to like that show, I think. On the other hand, the people who do take the leap love it. I say that not out of arrogance. Believe me, every time I go to the corner to get milk for the kids, I hear it.

Goren is seeing a shrink this season, right?

Maybe. We haven't shot any of that yet. But the word is that yeah, Goren is seeing a shrink.

Why did you leave the series and why are you back?

I needed to stretch a bit and spend time with my kids and family and my wife. I wrote with a couple of friends of mine and directed a film that's going to be distributed next winter. It's called "Don't Go in the Woods," a pretty crazy movie; it's a slasher musical. I wanted to do things like that, and during the last year and a half, I developed three films. That one was made. We're going to make an announcement about the second one that me and my friends wrote that we're producing.

Tell me about the slasher musical.

Me and two friends — Joe Vinciguerra and Sam Bisbee, who's a musician — I had this idea about a bunch of kids who go into the woods, and they all sing and they all die. It's modeled after a B slasher film, but it's a musical with beautiful music. I cast it off the streets of New York with all unknown actors. The movie cost $100,000, and we shot it in 12 days.

How did you happen to come back?

[Series creator] Dick [Wolf] called me. Dick has been a great supporter of mine since the show began. When I was getting tired, he helped me out then. I don't know why he does it, because he's an amazing businessman, and usually amazing businessmen don't care about what their actors are thinking. But in my case with Dick, it's exactly the opposite. And he has always tried to accommodate me in whatever way he could without of course being ridiculous. I don't want to say anything about the show with Jeff [Goldblum], because I thought I was leaving the show for good and Jeff was going to be the perfect person to play that part. Why the show didn't work out, I have no idea.

How was making the show so intense in 2004 that you ended up being hospitalized for nervous exhaustion, and why won't that be the case now?

It's very simple. We're not doing that amount of shows ever.

How many were you doing then?

Twenty-three. It wasn't just me, by the way. It was Kate [costar Kathryn Erbe] too. Both of us had kids, and we were working 10 months out of the year with maybe a couple of days off here and a couple of days off there. And at one point, I think it was on the second or third season, it was a brutal, brutal time. And I will never ever, no matter what kind of money they offer me, ever do that again.

That's why it's eight episodes?

Yeah, we're doing eight. And my wife told me that USA is really pushing the "last eight" thing, the final-season thing, which I think is really interesting. I know the television business pretty well now. I've been in it for 10 years, and I've never heard of a company saying something is over until it's really over. I always thought that people were in television for the money, companies. And why would they kill something if they could figure out how to make money off it? I think that from an actor's point of view, because I'm certainly not making an official announcement because I have no control over these things, I would say it's probably not done. I would say that "Criminal Intent" will be back in some form after these eight at some point.

From your mouth.... Speaking of God, the first episode of the new season deals with misdoings in the Catholic Church. You were an altar boy, weren't you? How did it feel to work on that episode?

I always found it a bit nerve-racking when we did things that the church was involved in. It's the same when you do things about bad cops. As you know, in this day and age, everybody loves to hear nasty stories about people; tales being told out of school are the most popular thing in the universe right now, on the Internet, on television. And they always have, about the church and they always have about law enforcement officers. I just think you have to be really careful when you tread those waters because on both accounts there's a lot of good that's been done. There are a lot of priests in this country that are more like social workers than guys who have to answer to the pope, and they don't get credit. And the same with cops.

This summer on NBC, it’s the end of an era for “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” and the continuation of the search for the next “Voice.”

The peacock network unveiled its summer schedule. Some familiar favorites — “The Marriage Ref,” "America’s Got Talent” — return, but the following are among its new offerings: the musical competition series “The Voice,” new game show “Still Standing” (working title), based on the Israeli series of the same title, which sees 10 components competing in 10 fast-paced and dramatic trivia battles, “Love in the Wild,” an adventure dating series (think "The Bachelor" meets "Amazing Race") and “It’s Worth That?,” a game show hosted by comedian Cedric “The Entertainer” that sees a pair of contestants tasked with discerning the price of items.

And after being off the air for four months, “Law & Order: Los Angeles” returns April 11, with episodes bleeding into summer.

Here’s the full slate:

“America’s Got Talent” returns for its sixth season on Tuesday, May 31 (9-11 p.m.)
“The Marriage Ref” returns for its second season on Sunday, June 26 (10-11 p.m.).
“The Voice” will have a two-hour premiere April 26 and will subsequently air Tuesdays (8-9 p.m.) through June.

The final season of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" will have a new showrunner. Chris Brancato, a veteran writer and producer whose credits include "Boomtown," "Law & Order: SVU" and "North Shore," will executive produce the show's final episodes, which are scheduled to begin in April.

Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reports that as expected, Kathryn Erbe has signed on to reprise the role of Detective Eames for the eight episode final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She joins Vince D’Onofrio who had already signed up to return as Detective Goren.

“We’re thrilled to have Kathryn Erbe return as Detective Eames, the perfect complement to Donofrio’s Detective Goren,” said USA’s president of original programming Jeff Wachtel. “We now have the definitive team for the ultimate season of this phenomenal show.”

Reunited and it feels so… absolutely perfect.

Kathryn Erbe will be rejoining ex-partner Vincent D’Onofrio for the 10th and final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, a USA Network spokesperson confirms.

News of Erbe’s freshly-inked deal comes roughly three weeks after D’Onofrio announced his own return to the show.

“I’m excited and grateful that Katie has decided to rejoin one of the best detective teams in the history of television,” said exec producer Dick Wolf in a statement.

D’Onofrio and Erbe left CI at the beginning of the show’s ninth season. They were replaced by Jeff Goldblum and Saffron Burrows.

CI‘s eight episode farewell season premieres sometime in 2011.

Reaction? Considering this is what more than 98 percent of you were clamoring for, I’m guessing you’re pretty psyched.

First I'll start with the binders themselves. Wow! They are wonderful!! The time people took in creating their letters is so amazing. And the care Susan and the rest of you gave the letters and binders is just so touching. I'm amazed by it all. The cross-stitches, the evidence sheets, the goodies you put in all 3 binders, just fabulous! I loved seeing Rodgers' photo next to Antje's beautiful opera tickets! It was so much fun to witness everyone's creativity and to see the project come to its fruition. THANK YOU so much to Susan for taking the time to snap photos of the contents and to Hannah for posting them online.

Next up, the letter. First of all, let me just say how extremely ecstatic I am to know that the actors actually received their gifts. I know some contributors were worried they might not ever even get to the actors. I'm so glad for everyone's sakes (especially to "the crew") that we know they were received and most of all, appreciated. He wrote a wonderful letter, even taking the time to let us know Vincent and Kathryn would be delighted too (just in case we were never to hear from them). It's fun to read the trivia about him being the one to propose the Ross/Rodgers relationship. Again, I just love that letter he wrote.

I can't believe he sent you Ross's Major Case button!!! That is amazingly wonderful. Every time you watch a Ross episode you will see it! I think you 5 ladies need to make it The Sisterhood of the Traveling Major Case Button!

And last but certainly not least . . . what?! Susan delivered the binder to Vincent in person?! Thank you to Susan for writing the account of her evening out for all to enjoy. What a night! I'm so glad she was able to get it to him and that she and her patient spouse were rewarded with a meeting (and a kiss for Susan as the cherry on top!). It is satisfying to know he received it and loved it (how could he not?!). Thanks for the photos too. I see some genuine smiles on his face and being a fellow lefty I always liked watching Goren write on the show and I love the photos where he's signing the photos. All I can say is wow. Wow!!

So again, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for your hard work and your creativity. You created something great! Stand up and take your bows, ladies, I'm giving you a standing ovation over here.

The Main Course - Delivering Vincent's Binder

First of all, I want to thank everyone for your patience. I have been reeling since Friday night! The story of the delivery of Vincent's binder is as follows:

My husband (who apparently will do anything for me – as I would for him!) and I arrived at Joe’s Pub at about 10:30PM Friday night. We went directly to the Box Office to pick up our tickets and the bouncer inquired as to what was in the box, which was rather large and clumsy to carry. I replied “It’s a gift for Mr. D’Onofrio.” After we received our tickets, we returned outside to wait in line for the doors to open for the show.

We noticed the bouncer talking to a few employees and directing their gaze to us. Then he came outside and spoke with one of the actresses in the movie, motioning with his hands toward us. My husband said “Uh oh. They’re having a problem with the box.” (I was prepared to have the box inspected as we were in NYC and I assumed there might be a perceived threat.) Next the bouncer came over to us and said “About the gift…” I interrupted him and said, “If you’re concerned, you have my permission to inspect the box.” He replied “No, it’s not that. I’m trying to figure how you are going to get it to him. I spoke with an actress in the movie, and she agreed to deliver it to him backstage.” I was disappointed. “You mean you don’t think I’ll have a chance to give it to him myself?” “No, that’s not an option” he answered, “but heck, I’ll deliver it to him myself right now.” Again, I asked “This is my only option?” “If you want to be sure he gets it” he replied. So I handed it over to him and thanked him. Moments later he returned saying “Oh he really loved it! Just loved it!” We were thrilled.

A few minutes later, a man who at first I thought might be the pub manager, but later thought was Vincent’s bodyguard, came over to us and said “Oh God, he really loves that gift. Really. He wants to meet you after the show. Are you staying for the show?” “Oh yes! Yes, we are!” we enthusiastically replied. “Okay then, I’ll come and get you after the show” stated the (wonderfully nice) man. We were stunned! Happily stunned…but stunned none the less.

Once inside Joe’s Pub, we were seated at a table in the front row! I was so excited! My husband spotted Vincent backstage and we gawked for a few minutes until the show began. Then Vincent came out on stage to introduce his movie. He was funny and witty and he unnecessarily directed us to all have fun. The movie was intense and, as expected, gory; and the music…the music was great! The actors did a good job acting and a fabulous job performing Sam Bisbee’s music. The story had a jaw dropping conclusion, with Mr. D’Onofrio’s mark all over it! (And Eric Bogosian’s face in it!)

Next we were treated to a live performance of the music in the movie by the actors in the movie, accompanied by Sam Bisbee, the composer, on piano/guitar. A surprise visit from George Geronimo Gerkie, who sang, in his GGG way, “I’m in Love with a Man”, was a highlight in the show. In my opinion, Mr. D’Onofrio’s character spoke (sang) his piece on the repeal of the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy of the US Military. Afterward the show continued with the wonderful music of the movie performed by the cast and Mr. Bisbee. Rousing cheers and applause were heard at the end of the whole thrilling experience!

As people began to leave, I sat down hoping that Vincent’s bodyguard would come out to get us as promised. But my husband saw the worried look on my face and decided to take action immediately. He went backstage, found the bodyguard and then summoned me to join them. Shaking, I did so. We were guided to a room where the cast and crew and their friends were all gathered chatting excitedly about the show. Towering above them all was the gorgeous Vincent D’Onofrio, dressed in a black shirt and black jeans (shocking, I know!) engaged in animated conversation with a group of people. We stepped to the side and waited as the bodyguard went over to Vincent. He spoke to Vincent and I expected him to then wave us over, but instead, Vincent wrapped up his conversation and came over to us! I was floored!

“Thank you. Thank you for the gift”, he said. I asked him if he liked it. He answered “Yes, very much.” He asked us where we were from and thanked us for coming to the show, especially at that late hour. My husband jokingly complained to Vincent about having to carry that box around all day. Vincent laughed. My husband then asked Vincent “Can I get a picture of you with my wife?” (Moi!) “Sure” said Vincent. While the photograph was being taken, all I could think was “Oh my God!”, but I was finally able to utter a question, “Would you mind signing a few autographs for the girls who couldn’t be here tonight?” “How many?” he inquired. (He must’ve thought I meant the many women who wrote the letters in the binder! LOL!) “Five – including one for me” I answered. “Oh sure” he said. Then he walked over to a chair, sat down, and began signing the pictures I’d printed up for the Binder Project Crew.

And, just like that woman in the Archival Library in the LOCI episode “Undaunted Mettle”, I hovered. I explained who each one was for “This one is for Suzanne. She’s from Canada and she ran this whole project.” He smiled at the “Goren and Eames ARE Criminal Intent” postcard that Suzanne had designed. I laughed to myself as I said “This one is for Antje. She’s from Berlin.” “Oh” he commented with raised eyebrows and a nod. This patient, cordial, and incredibly handsome man continued signing, while I babbled on about Barbi from Virginia and Hannah from Austria, and how the letters for him in the binder came from all over the world including Peru, Sweden, and Australia, and how much we love him and miss him, but also look forward to all his new stuff.

When he was finished signing, and I have no idea where this came from, (my heart I guess!) I asked him “Can I give you a kiss?” (I am such a hussy – as Suzanne says!) He smiled and graciously obliged me. He returned the kiss on my cheek and gave me a hug. I hugged right back! He thanked us again for coming and we thanked him for everything.

And that’s what it means to have a dream come true.

Thank you all for your participation in this project. It was fun and hard work to put it together, but the Binder Project Crew found it to be a labor of love. Kathryn’s and Eric’s binders are ready to be shipped to their agents, and will be sent out as soon as possible. Again, many thanks to you all who made this project a huge success.

An Appetizer....

We began this blog October 2, 2009 when the news was breaking that Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian were being forced out of Law and Order Criminal Intent. We jumped on the Stuff the Fluff campaign in an effort to save our show. We sent postcards and cases of marshmallow Fluff to USA Network executives and announced a daily media “Hit List” to shout our displeasure of the removal of our characters. We insisted USA fix it. By the end of October, when it was apparent the actors were not coming back, we all began bashing USA and NBC Networks in blogs and on Facebook and Twitter. And that still continues….

On November 16 we posted a proposal to see if anyone would be interested in contributing a letter, poem or artwork to a big Thank You for each of the stars. The format? A Goren-type binder as suggested by Aunt Dahlia on the USA forum.

We asked if people would contribute letters; we surveyed to ask for preferred binder styles; we rented a mailbox and we tried to get the word out as best we could. We set a deadline. We extended the deadline. We added the Tributes page. We added beautifully written “Form” letters. We received emails and letters, stitched & decorated pages, illustrations, fanfiction and fan videos from all over the world. And we are still receiving them on the web as the public learns of the loss of Goren and Eames.

Well, we’ve been quiet. Very quiet. On Friday night, what we hinted about in our May 22 Blog post came true.

Our Binder Project Administrative Anchor, Susan (accompanied by her husband), went to Joe’s Pub in New York City for the screening of Don’t Go In The Woods (See the NYTimes article here) where Susan delivered Vincent D'Onofrio's binder.

So for all those awesome people who contributed letters and supported the Criminal Intent Binder Project; the next few blog posts are for you.

Another Addition to the Binder

We've all thought about it.
We've all watched it.
It was there more often than not (although I'm not sure it prevented the tie from dragging over the corpses....).
It slid farther and farther up his tie as the seasons progressed and then it was sadly missing altogether.
We were ecstatic to see it reappear (along with the suit) in the Goren and Eames finale.

What is it? It's the Goren tie clip. This one will be included in the binder going to Vincent D'Onofrio as a memento of his amazing creation of the much-loved Robert Goren.

Thank you so much for your brilliant portrayal of Robert Goren for the last 8 seasons. Your misfit character has affected many lives with his genius, insight, humanity, and compassion. Your tireless efforts to give your best performances are greatly appreciated.
We watched you take an intelligent, confident man living in denial of his personal feelings, to the depths of despair when those feelings were forced to the forefront in his life, all while doing an incredibly difficult job as the number one detective of NYC.
You also allowed us to see Goren begin to recover from his losses through
therapy and by reaching out to his family, and his partner, Eames, as best he could.
The words may have been written for you, but your physical and emotional expression of those words touched the hearts of many, many people. You have done an exceptional job with your character and we, your fans, want you to know that Detective Robert Goren will never be forgotten.

A Letter to Kathryn Erbe

Where would Robert Goren be without Alex Eames? She is the glue that has kept him together. Kathryn, you created a character with whom we all wanted to be friends.

Detective Eames was a great cop, who just wanted to solve crimes. Alex’s loyalty belonged to the people who deserved that gift. She just did her job: "I didn’t take this job to get noticed.” Because of this, we really love you.

Behind Alex’s tough façade exists a woman with a soft core. She is not afraid to show her feelings and Kathryn, your skills at sharing Alex's feelings were phenomenal. We couldn’t tell if Alex’s tears were also yours. We cried with you in Alex’s darkest moments but also laughed with you so many, many times.

Kathryn, thank you so much for giving us eight wonderful years of Alexandra Eames in Criminal Intent.
You’ll be missed so badly.

A Letter to Eric Bogosian

I wish to thank you for bringing Captain Danny Ross to life on our television screens. Your portrayal of this conflicted man brought a whole new level to the Major Case Squad, increasing the drama surrounding the cases and the characters.
Captain Ross could be sarcastic and “reductive”, but also compassionate and diverse. He could be irrational and santomonious, as well as reasonable and sincere. There's nothing better for a LOCI fan than to observe a new and complex character and you gave us that opportunity.

Dear Vincent D’Onofrio,

Hello! My name is Amy, and I just wanted to thank you for your awesome work as Detective Robert Goren. I have always enjoyed the different approach of Criminal Intent, and around my house, whenever it is on, someone hollers, “Bobby’s on!”

You have probably heard how you or your work has changed someone’s life, but in my case, it’s true. As I was watching “Probability,” where Goren and Eames discover that Wally Stevens has Asperger’s Syndrome, something prompted me to watch it again. As you/Goren read the list of symptoms, something clicked. It made me interested enough to visit with a therapist, and I found out that I have Asperger’s. Being 40 years old at the time, and finally finding that which I have searched so long for was such a relief!

I wanted to thank you so much for showing compassion towards “Wally,” as it felt a little like you were showing all Aspies that same compassion. It was the first time anyone had shown me a positive reaction, rather than the reactions I have gotten over the years. I know, you were playing a part, saying and doing what the script said, but I’d like to believe that you put a lot of yourself into that role, and it wasn’t all coming from the script.

I am sad and sorry to see you leave Criminal Intent, but I would like to wish you great luck in your future endeavors. Thank you ever so much for Bobby Goren!

The Criminal Intent Binder Project Details!

Ever since Aunt Dahlia (from the USA Criminal Intent forum) so cleverly suggested that we send a binder filled with letters to Vincent D’Onofrio to thank him for the incredible magic he created as Robert Goren, the idea just wouldn’t leave us alone. So here we are.

Three binders will be sent to the actors leaving Criminal Intent, one to Vincent D’Onofrio, one to Kathryn Erbe and one to Eric Bogosian. We’d love to see you send us your simple thanks, or your artwork or your comments: how you found the show, what you liked about it and what kept you watching. And anything else you can think of!

Here is the format:

8-1/2 x 11” page, printed or decorated, *one side only*. European sizes pages are fine, but should be trimmed to 11” tall.
Do not punch holes – each submission will go into a page protector and placed in the 3-ring binder. The dimensions of the PO Box are 11"long x 5.5" wide so a catalogue envelope can roll in it.
Create one page for each actor you wish to send a message to.
Please sign your pages with at least your first name! and it would be fun to add your approximate location.
If you wish to know if your pages were received, please include a current email address on a separate piece of paper!

Your submissions will be handled with the utmost care by our group. We are fellow fans who know the meaning of your personal tributes and we will honor their significant value. We would never make anything you send public without your permission.

We have had a really nice response to our plans for assembling binders for the three stars who are leaving Criminal Intent! Thank you for your interest!

We are now working on plans to acquire the binders - let us know if you see binders online which you think would be appropriate to send. We're leaning towards a zippered leather binder for Mr. D'Onofrio (gee, I wonder why?).

It's a busy time of year for everyone, but we will let you know soon about mailing address.

Start planning your page now! (it must fit in a standard 3 ring binder page protector, so ideally it should be on a page which is 8-1/2" x 11". European contributions should just leave a border for trimming the top or bottom to fit) Use only one side OR both sides of the page.

Have fun with your contribution! We want to honor their work and the pleasure they've given us.

Go serious - with a simple heartfelt thank you letter.
Go funky - create a page of post-it notes that the character might have stuck in their binder
Go creative - make a scrapbook page (8-1/2" x 11"!)

USA network has chosen to do away with three of the major characters on L/O C/I. Fans did their best to keep the cast as is, or even allow the cast to exit with some dignity. However, USA is killing off one of the detectives we've all come to love.

No word so far as to which star is leaving the show in a body bag, but apparently one is.

Below is the main body of an email I received from a good friend of this column and of CI fans everywhere.

It is based on the words of someone who has proven that they know what they are talking about. I wouldn't print it if I didn't believe it to be true, to the best of both of the people involved's knowledge.

A little background. There were power changes at NBC a few years ago. These powers wanted NBC to reflect THEIR views so like a lot of people who move into a power position they want things their way. First they wanted all long running shows gone-This meant basically ER and all of the Law and Orders. Right off they set out to cancel the mothership and CI. But here comes DICK WOLF and his contract which states they HAVE to keep the shows for X amount of years or pay him multi-millions. Needles to say the POB (Powers that be) were pissed. There was also a clause the shows had to maintain a certain rating. Which all did. So the POB did what we all know--changed the cast of the mothership and moved CI to USA but USA embraced them and it became the number one drama in their cable category.

NBC wanted them canceled last year but USA fought to keep them. They couldn't give them raises so they gave at least Vincent a percent of the show. Noth got pissed at the offer and left. NBC POB arranged to have Goldblum come in. Bobby & Alex were given writers who half of them, this was their first show. The Nichols side had seasoned writers. Even with some of the crappy writing Vincent & Kate's shows still were in the top.

NBC POB pushed offering things they knew the actors would not accept. Eric went on and took a role on Broadway. He was done. Vincent being the gallant man he is bowed out agreeing to do cameo appearances--maybe. Kate it is my understanding thought they were doing like usual hold them up to the last minute and then settling. She was devastated when she finally realized they meant to fire them all but made it look like it was the actors making unreasonable demands or in Vince's case wanting to do other things.

Vincent would have done another season--but again this thing with WOLF so they wanted him gone.

(Note here they have started the same thing with the cast of SVU almost forcing the actors there out over raises. If they have to keep Wolf's shows they are going to have their choice of actors. Wolf protected himself and the show but not his actors.)

They did not want the chance that if the show fails with Goldblum and that Bobby & Alex would be brought back to save them so it was decided one of the characters had to die.

She doesn't know which, but last she heard they were leaning toward Alex with Bobby & Ross quitting because of guilty feeling from why she's murdered.

This is not in stone, she said they are still writing and she hasn't heard. Kate is crushed. Vincent is sick of them and well we know how he loves to die in his movies. SO....

I asked her why she did not tell me this to begin with and she said this crap happened before the last season and USA had the balls to stand up an fight back keeping them.

She thought they would this year too, but NBC suddenly came up with money for new shows they'd previously rejected.

CI has a new captain.

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has joined L/O C/I as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. She will take over from Eric Bogosian who held the position as Captain for the last three years.

USA network also reminded us via The Hollywood Reporter that this is a kinder, gentler L/O C/I.

We now have a TV show with the same name as an old favorite, but none of the same characters.

Out of all of this drama about who would leave who would stay, we know have who will live and who will die. Either way the fans lose.

Law & Order: CI is undergoing yet another staffing change.

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has been cast as the show’s new captain, sources confirm to me semi-exclusively. She replaces Eric Bogosian, who is the latest CI vet to depart as the show shifts its focus to Jeff Goldblum and new partner Saffron Burrows.

As I previously reported, Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Bogosian will exit after appearing in the show’s two-part season 9 premiere. Rumor has it one of the three will be carted off in a body bag.

Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio has joined USA Network's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," completing the casting transformation on the police procedural for its upcoming ninth season.

She will play the new captain taking over the Major Case Squad on the Wolf Films/Universal Cable Prods. series.

Mastrantonio's character, who comes from a working-class background, succeeds Capt. Danny Ross (Eric Bogosian), who headed the division for the past three years, following the departure of Capt. James Deakins (original cast member Jamey Sheridan).

Mastrantonio is one of two new faces on "L&O: CI" for next season, joining Saffron Burrows. The hires follow the exit of four regulars on the show: original stars Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe as well as Bogosian and new mom Julianne Nicholson, who is being replaced by Burrows.

With the departure of D'Onofrio, the cop drama is taking on a lighter tone. It centers on Jeff Goldblum, whose character Zach Nichols becomes the squad's top detective.

Mastrantonio is not a stranger to police procedurals; she has recurred on CBS' "Without a Trace."

Don’t Trust USA Network!
(they’ll sure as hell screw up your program)

In light of Vincent D’Onofrio’s radio interview, it is apparent to us that he will not be coming back to Criminal Intent no matter what we do.

It also appears that Kathryn Erbe was fired. And we assume the same for Eric Bogosian.

Although it breaks our hearts, we will not be continuing to campaign to return Mr. D'Onofrio and Ms. Erbe back for a full Season 9.

However, for those who wish to continue, the focus of the campaign has changed into expressing our huge displeasure in the way these fine actors have been treated AND how little respect USA has for their fans;

how USA sabotaged the show in Season 8

how without Goren and Eames there is no Criminal Intent

how incompetently they’ve handling the exit of our beloved characters we have grown with over the years including killing one!

We will boycott USA/NBC and their advertisers and never trust them again.

We want to thank everyone who has actively participated in the campaign so far and hope you will continue. We will no longer send out daily Hit Lists, but we will update the blog with new information and articles, so make sure you’re subscribed. We will continue to Tweet as long as you Tweet!

The USA network announced earlier this month that "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" will do some major house cleaning for season nine, dumping the show's original stars Vincent D'Onofrio (Detective Goren) and Kathryn Erbe (Detective Eames), as well as Eric Bogosian (Captain Ross) and Julianne Nicholson (Detective Wheeler).That's right. Every actor in the photo below *(above on our blog) is leaving except for Jeff Goldblum (far left). Even more troubling, now there are reports that one of those characters will be written off in the most final of ways. According to Showbiz411, "L&O: CI" just taped an episode in which one of the departing characters is murdered.Presumably, Goren isn't the character killed off, since D'Onofrio said at the time of USA's announcement, "For all my loyal 'CI' fans, I wouldn't be surprised if Goren pops up from time to time."Showbiz411.com also says that Erbe is ticked about the way things have turned out. The website, which claims to have insider scoop, doesn't give away any other clues. The death of Erbe's character (should she prove to be the unlucky one) could be the final undoing of Goren, who has endured an unprecedented amount of tragedy over the past few seasons. Goren's departure from the squad after losing his longtime partner and friend would seem pretty natural. But perhaps that's too obvious.Fans of the show are understandably upset. USA announced that the actor had decided to "transition out of the idiosyncratic role he created to explore new acting challenges in film and television."D'Onofrio's Detective Goren will appear in the two-part opener of season nine and then the show will be turned over to Jeff Goldblum, who came on to share detective duties in season eight.Nicholson, who plays Detective Wheeler and is normally paired with Goldblum's Detective Nichols, is also leaving voluntarily. Her character departed near the end of last season to deliver a baby (Nicholson was pregnant in real life) and the actress opted not to return. Nicholson will be replaced by Saffron Burrows ("My Own Worst Enemy," "Boston Legal"), who will become Goldblum's partner.There is no word yet on whether or not D'Onofrio and Erbe will be replaced, or if Goldblum and Burrows will carry the show alone."Law & Order" shows are well known for their prolific cast changes. It's certainly not the first time one of Dick Wolfe's shows have lost major characters, but never before has so much of a single cast departed at one time.

I told you a few weeks ago that “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” was letting go of three main players: Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Eric Bogosian. Now I can tell you this: one of their characters will die.
“CI” just finished filming an episode in which one of the three is murdered. That’s the exit show for the other two as well.
I am told by “CI” insiders that Erbe, especially, is very unhappy with the way things have worked out over there. “She was told everything was going fine, and then they were fired.”
Whoever was murdered isn’t too happy, either. But I’m not giving that part away.
The show is next turned over to Jeff Goldblum, who will soldier on without the original cast.

Satellite TV Guru says "Vincent D’Onofrio Out on Criminal Intent"

There is a new article by Satellite TV Guru published today:

Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Eric Bogosian and Julianne Nicholson are all leaving Law and Order: Criminal Intent early in the show’s upcoming ninth season. The departures were confirmed by USA a few weeks ago.
D’Onofrio has been on CI since the show’s beginning as the idiosyncratic Detective Robert Goren. His leaving is just part of an overhaul at the show that includes bringing on Saffron Burrows as Nicholson’s replacement.
According to Law & Order creator/executive producer Dick Wolf, D’Onofrio will appear in a two-part opener of season nine that will serve as his official hand-off to Jeff Goldblum. Goldblum joined the cast last season when he replaced Chris Noth, who is now a regular on CBS’ The Good Wife and will appear in next year’s Sex and the City 2.
Though it is unclear why the cast shake up is happening, fans are convinced it is because USA wants to bring new characters that better reflect the lighter fare of their original programming like Monk, Psych and their newest series, White Collar. Fans have even gone as far as to send cases of marshmallow Fluff to the show’s headquarters, implying that the network only wants to show programming that is “fluff”.
In a statement, D’Onofrio left the door open to returning on the show for guest-starring stints. “For all my loyal ‘CI’ fans, I wouldn’t be surprised if Goren pops up from time to time,” he said.

Suddenly appearing out of nowhere in the last few days, we have:

An online article seemingly stitched together from *old information and interviews*.

A “new” video.
seemingly filmed at the same time as the interview in France. Mr D’Onofrio is wearing the same clothes – this is *not a new interview*. It belongs with the videos released in July. All references are to Season 8, not Season 9, as Season 9 had not started filming.. This is *not* new information! It is MIS-information designed by someone to fool those who will be fooled and scatter the fans.

Just a note to anyone who still has doubts about USA's "intent" to "lighten" (or "fluff up") LOCI. Here are the polls that have been posted on the USA home page in recent months. Notice the vast difference in the type of questions about Nichols' character as opposed to Goren:

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- A 116-foot, fiberglass yacht and a utility boat gussied up to look like a trawler floating yesterday off the home port in Stapleton were not delivering globetrotters for a tour of the Island's North Shore.
The ships -- and the attendant explosions and cries -- were set up for the filming of an episode of NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," which airs on the USA Network.

According to a spokeswoman for the show, the episode "deals with a case of international intrigue" and is the first in a two-episode program. Some observers on scene said one of the ships seemed to be a pirate vessel.

None of the principal actors on the weekly drama -- which stars Vincent D'Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Nicholson and Eric Bogosian -- was on hand for the filming of this episode.

But some 120 crew members scurried back and forth all day, bringing the action to life.
Today, they will be filming scenes on the open water, pushing off from Miller's Launch in Tompkinsville.
The show is no stranger to the borough: In 2007, an episode of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" was shot at the Arthur Kill Correctional Facility, Charleston; a year before that, the show was laying down tape at a Todt Hill mansion.
In earlier years, episodes were filmed in Grasmere, Livingston, Bloomfield and Great Kills.
No word yet on when the episode filmed yesterday may be broadcast.

USA Returns Fluff!

What? you say.
But they want fluffy programming?
Only Fluffy Characters Welcome at USA network!
So why have they returned a case of Fluff to its sender?

Our enthusiastic Fluffer sent the box out on 10/5 addressed to Jeff Wachtel (President of Original Series USA Network) and ironically got the box back on 10/16, the scheduled first day of shooting.

The postmaster informed said Fluffer that the box would get there in two days. Priority mail. In blue ink someone crossed off Jeff Wachtel's address and put an arrow leading to our heroic Fluffer's return address.

In a circle "Refused" is written and in a rectangle "Return" is written. The box wasn't even opened.

Our Fluffer sent him a pack of cheap mini marshmallows with a postcard attached. Bravo! Ms. Fluff!

We think that this is extremely rude of Mr. Wachtel.
If he had been brought up correctly, he would have accepted graciously and written a thank you note.

And then given us back Goren, Eames and Ross.

Vincent D'Onofrio : "Je passe à autre chose..." ??

You can see the article online here but it will require translating if you'd don't read French.

We cannot "understand" this article which seems to be old history and a patchwork of various interviews and quotes which are open to the vagueness of translations from English to French and then back again. And why would this not come from a North American source? It just doesn't seem to make sense on so many levels.

There is no author, introduction or information of how the interview was conducted.

Check it out with some skepticism.

Shots ring out as Law & Order tapes fight scene at Stapleton home port

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Gunfire and explosions could be heard from the former Stapleton home port site today.
There were no emergency vehicles rushing to Front Street, however.
Film crews are scheduled to be at the home port until 6 p.m., taping a segment for the detective series "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."
The episode included gun shots and explosions, according to the Police Department.
The show's main stars, including Vincent D'Onofrio, Jeff Goldblum, Katheryn Erbe and Eric Bogosian were not spotted during the shoot. It's not immediately known when the show will air.
"Law & Order" airs on NBC on Mondays.
